In the Third Ward, especially along Kalamazoo Avenue, hundreds of people are calling for traffic calming to reduce reckless driving and speeding traffic. Residents have shared stories of property damage, injury and even pedestrian death due to reckless driving. Calming traffic here will make it safer for residents as well as those accessing services in the area.

We are working to:

• Find local government funding for the installation of flashing crosswalks and a traffic light
• Ensure crossing guards for school children in the area
• Build relationships with city staff 
• Raise awareness of the low investment in the Third Ward

These changes will create a safer neighborhood for pedestrians, cyclists, and drivers in the area, along with residents who want to enjoy their outdoor spaces without fear of dangerous traffic.

Our work has led to:

• A strong team of neighborhood leaders
• Direct contact with city staff and decision makers leading to working relationships
• Knowledge of public money and funding possibilities
